Our best Servapp yet
Version 4 is a huge update for Servapp, although not apparent from the outside, inside a lot has changed.
Let’s talk specifics
Under the hood, we have upgraded the core system that Servapp uses, Electron. Moving from version 2 to version 6 we are now using the latest version along with all the bells and whistles. One of the main things we have seen after this upgrade is the speed of Servapp. During beta testing, our users discovered that Servapp performed much faster than the previous version on all aspects of the app. That’s pretty neat, especially for the POS sector where hardware isn’t quite as up to date as most modern PC (but we are close).
We have updated Servapp with a fresh coat of paint showing our new colour scheme and logo. This colour scheme and logo will start to see its way to all our Servapp websites.
Auto updates, a feature you and we have been waiting for. Servapp will now download in the background any new updates and notify you when it’s ready to update. You can then restart Servapp then or it will update the next time you start Servapp.
LDM (tabs/tables) is now integrated directly into Servapp making for a better install and user experience.
Tabs are now larger, 16 times larger even. As a side note, the limitation is not on the number of products but the total size of the tab. A product with modifiers is much larger than the same without.
Servapp now has a new status bar at the bottom of the app, this will display service status’s letting the user know if something isn’t working, these include
- Network Status (connection to Servapps servers)
- LDM Status (connection to tab/tables data)
- VX Link Status (Verifone Eftpos Terminal)
Talking of VX Link we have improved how Servapp communicates with the terminals.
If you are upgrading a few extra steps need to be taken, especially if you are using tabs/tables. Check out this article for more info.
